Apartment storage in Marquette, MI, without renting a unit.

Apartments run out of room long before houses do. There is no basement, no attic, and usually no garage — so the things you only need twice a year end up under the bed, on top of the wardrobe, or in the way. STOVA gives you somewhere else to put them without signing for a unit.

The storage a small place actually needs

Self-storage is built around a minimum: the smallest unit most facilities rent is still bigger than an apartment's overflow, and you pay for all of it. What an apartment usually needs is somewhere to put six boxes, not a room.

Tote-based storage scales to that. You store the number of totes you fill and pay per tote, so the bill matches the problem. There is no lease to sign and no unit standing half empty.

Lease turnover without the scramble

Apartment leases end on fixed dates and the next one rarely starts the same day. That gap is where people end up filling a car, imposing on friends, or paying for a month of storage they only need for a week.

We collect from the old address and redeliver to the new one when you are ready. Because billing follows what is in storage rather than a term, a gap of nine days and a gap of nine weeks both cost what they actually cost.

Getting a room back

The most common reason people start is not a move at all — it is wanting a room back. A spare bedroom full of boxes becomes an office; a living room stops being a staging area; a closet holds the season you are actually in.

Because every tote is logged individually, storing things does not mean losing track of them. You request the one you want and it comes back to your door, which is the part that makes it practical in a building with no lift and a narrow stair.

What apartment residents store

Common questions

Is this worth it for a one-bedroom?
That is the case it suits best. A storage unit has a minimum size and a lease whether you fill it or not; here you might store four totes for a few dollars a month. The smaller the amount you need to store, the worse a unit compares.
I have no elevator and a narrow stair. Is that a problem?
Totes are sized to be carried by one person, which is the point — there is no pallet, no container and no furniture dolly involved. We come to your door, whichever floor that is.
Can I use this between leases?
Yes, and it is one of the more common reasons people start. We collect from the old apartment and redeliver to the new one whenever you are ready, so your belongings are not sitting in a car or a friend's spare room in between.
What about my furniture?
Furniture does not fit our system — that needs a self-storage unit or a mover. What we take off your hands is the volume of smaller things that actually fills a small apartment: clothes, books, kitchen equipment, decor and paperwork.
